If you went to school in Britain, you'll remember this. It's a very crisp, crumbly chocolate biscuit bake.

Serve warm, broken into pieces, with custard.

Method

  1. Heat the oven to 180°C / 160°C fan. Grease a 20 x 30cm tin.
  2. Mix the flour, sugar and cocoa, then stir in the butter to make a crumbly mix.
  3. Press firmly into the tin and sprinkle with the extra sugar.
  4. Bake for 20–25 minutes. Cut into squares while warm and leave to cool in the tin.
Cook's noteFor pink custard, stir a few drops of pink food colouring and some strawberry flavouring into ready-made custard.
